Description
Many years ago, a friend and I visited the gallery of an Italian painter, supposedly inspired by his travel experiences in North America. My friend after a while began to mock the paintings because all, without exception, showed an image of Coca Cola. It almost seemed that the painter's "American experiences" had only left in his memory the reminiscence of the red cans and labels of the famous Georgian drink. My friend was right. The American vision of the painter was banal and his creativity seemed quite limited. However, an Americana Photography collection must include some images of the carbonated soft drink, invented in the late 19th century by John Pemberton and eventually bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century. Besides, the Coca Cola Company is a master of advertisement. Its symbols and gadgets are colorful and eye-catching, often a nice subject for a photographer. I composed this image inside the World of Coca-Cola, a museum located in Atlanta, Georgia, showcasing the history of The Coca-Cola Company.
