Description
D.C., D Street NW, between 1st and 2nd NW. This mural was created by Rose Jaffe in May 2016. The artwork shown in this images was painted on the wall of a homeless shelter, next to the Mitch Snyder Art & Education Center for the Homeless, within walking distance of the US Capitol and the Third Street Tunnel. For this reason, some images show federal employees walking in front of the mural, which do not have any relationship with the homeless shelter. The shelter, often referred to as CCNV (Community for Creative Nonviolence), houses 1,350 beds making it the largest facility of its kind in the country. Rose Jaffe painted this beautiful and colorful mural trying to do something that involved the community of this building, featuring Mitch Snyder, a CCNV activist, shelter workers and residents. Mural artists more often create their works with a social or political message in mind, and this message may be evident in their murals, like the one shown in this pictures. However, my goal is not to deliver a specific message, but simply to show these artworks from my photographic and esthetic point of view, and the ideas and the opinions expressed by the artists do not necessary reflect my personal opinions.
